The spark that lit the flame
I started making candles because I wanted to create something I love and share it with other people. I have always filled my home with scents that make me feel calm, safe, and comforted, and eventually I realized I wanted to make those feelings myself instead of just buying them. I fell in love with the process right away. Melting the wax, blending the scents, and building something with my hands is relaxing for me. It is a stress reliever and a creative outlet that feels good for my mind and my home.
Chasing the perfect scent
When I first started making candles, I thought it would be simple. Melt the wax, add the scent, pour it, and done. I learned very quickly that it does not work like that. I remember one of my early test batches where I kept adjusting the scent over and over because I wanted it to smell exactly right. I would blend a little, smell it, blend again, smell it again, and then start over. It felt like I was in a little world of my own, just trying to chase the perfect scent. Even though it took forever, I loved every minute of it. That was the moment I realized how much I enjoy the process and how relaxing it is for me.
The JELIs experience
When someone lights one of my JELIs candles, I want them to feel calm and comforted. I want the scent to make their space feel warm, safe, and inviting. I hope it brings a little nostalgia or a moment of escape from the stress of the day. My goal is for each candle to create a feeling of home, even if it is just for a few quiet minutes.
